CALU hosts events, talks, demonstrations and training days across Wales throughout the year. Details of the events are provided below. If you would like further information on any of them, please contact CALU or the person named in the event details box.

Most of CALU's events are funded through the Welsh Assembly Government's Farming Connect programme. This means that we are usually able to provide the events free of charge.

Although every effort is made to ensure this page is up to date, please double check the details with the event organisers prior to travelling.

JULY 2011

Event: Practical Workshop
Topic: CROP WALKING IN FIELD VEGETABLES - identification of pests and problems
Date: Tuesday 5th July
Time: 10:15am - 3:30pm
Venue: Cae Melwr Farm, Llanrwst, LL26 0SD
Workshop leader: Chris Creed

Crop walking is one of the most important jobs in vegetable production. Regular walking of the crop means problems are quickly identified and can be appropriately tackled.

Today’s crop walk will be lead by Chris reed of ADAS and Emyr Hughes of Cae Melwr. We will be looking at problems caused by pests and diseases, as well as nutrient disorders and weeds.

Our host, Cae Melwr Farm, Llanrwst, began growing field scale vegetables in 2007.  The farm now produces over 30 varieties of seasonal vegetables all year round including potatoes, leeks, carrots, soft fruit, squashes and sweetcorn.
